Privacy Policy

This policy describes what Take Up stores locally, what is sent when you choose online features, how providers process data, and how you can delete it.

Overview

Take Up is an accountless Catholic formation app for adults. Most activity stays on your device. Take Up does not sell personal information, show third-party advertising, or track you across apps or websites.

Data stored on your device

Your onboarding responses and age, Rule, Journey and devotional progress, Daily Orders, reminder preferences, Bible history, bookmarks, memory practice, journal entries, Examen answers, formation progress, and app preferences are stored in the app’s protected local container. Notifications are scheduled by iOS. Scripture narration uses Apple’s on-device speech services; Take Up does not upload the text you listen to.

Backups and iCloud

Take Up creates accountless backups on this iPhone and, when iCloud Drive is available, in your private iCloud container. iOS Data Protection protects the local copy, and Apple protects iCloud data in transit and at rest under your Apple terms. If you enable Advanced Data Protection for iCloud, eligible iCloud Drive data is end-to-end encrypted. Take Up does not offer or retain a separate portable backup file.

Brotherhood and matching

Brotherhood is optional. When you open Brotherhood or Contact Support & Safety, Supabase creates a random anonymous service identifier so protected community and support features can work without a Take Up login. The service stores the alias, circle membership, posts, replies, reactions, status notes, private Anchor messages, recovery-code digest, safety reports, blocks, moderation records, shared-Journey participation, and other community or support content you deliberately submit.

Find My Anchor may also store exact age, preferred age range, life stage, availability, time-zone offset, formation goal, commitment level, adult confirmation, matching state, and end/report reasons. Candidates see only the limited profile described on the matching screen—not your exact age, journal, Examen, Rule, or private formation records.

Purchases

Apple processes payment and your Apple Account billing details. Take Up never receives your full payment-card number. RevenueCat receives an anonymous app-user identifier plus subscription product, transaction, entitlement, and purchase-history information needed to offer, verify, and restore premium access.

Purposes and service providers

Data is processed only to provide the features you request, secure community access, match consenting adults, prevent abuse, respond to support and safety reports, maintain backups, and verify subscriptions. Apple provides App Store, iCloud, notification, and device services; RevenueCat provides subscription entitlement infrastructure; Supabase provides anonymous authentication, database, and realtime community infrastructure. These providers process data under their own terms and privacy commitments and are expected to protect it consistently with this policy and applicable law.

Retention and deletion

Local data and Take Up-managed backups remain until you delete them through Data & Backup. Brotherhood data remains while the anonymous community identity exists. Settings → Data & Backup → Delete All Private Data erases Take Up’s local database and managed local/iCloud backups, removes the anonymous Brotherhood identity and data tied to it, and returns the app to onboarding.

If you own a non-empty private circle, ownership transfers to its oldest remaining member and the creator label becomes “Former member”; a matched two-person Anchor circle is deleted. Deleting data or the app does not cancel an App Store subscription. See the data deletion guide.

Your choices

Brotherhood, Find My Anchor, iCloud availability, reminders, and the words you share are under your control. You can decline notification permission and continue using the app. You can delete individual community content where the interface allows, report or block another participant, end matching, or erase all Take Up data from Data & Backup. Subscription changes and cancellation are handled in your Apple Account.

Adults, security, and changes

Take Up is designed for adults age 18 or older and is not directed to children. Take Up uses iOS Data Protection, Apple’s iCloud security, scoped anonymous authentication, and server access controls, but no system can guarantee absolute security. Data may be processed where Apple, RevenueCat, or Supabase operate, subject to their safeguards and applicable law. Material policy changes will be reflected by updating this policy and its effective date.

Contact

For a privacy request, technical issue, or safety concern, use Settings → Contact Support & Safety in Take Up or email support@nlcraft.com. For urgent danger, contact local emergency services; Take Up is not an emergency service.
